Arsenal superstar Mesut Ozil took to twitter to defend his club captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’ in the latter’s war of words with Real Madrid’s Toni Kroos. Ozil, sidelined from the squad for the Europa and Premier League campaigns, seems to have put his disappointment aside to back his club teammate after Toni kroos hit out at the goal celebrations of Aubameyang.
Earlier, Toni Kroos said that he was not a fan of the over-the-top goal celebrations of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who often wears a mask after scoring a goal.
The Real Madrid midfielder also took a swipe at Antoine Griezmann, who often performs dance moves from the video game ‘Fortnite’ after scoring goals. Branding such moves as silly, he further went on to state that such acts won’t make them good role models.
“I find it (choreographed celebrations) very silly. Even worse is if there are any objects hidden in their socks. Aubameyang once celebrated and took out a mask. That’s where it ends with me. I don’t think that’s a good role model, either. What nonsense.”
Looks like Kroos’ criticism didn’t sit well with Aubameyang. The Gabonese superstar gave a fiery response, saying that he does such celebrations for his kids. He said he hopes Kroos has kids one day and urged everyone to wear masks.
Auba and his team will look to bounce back from the recent defeat vs Aston Villa once the league resumes.
